Visa Information

Student Visa (Subclass 500, fee AUD $2,000 from July 2025) requires Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), Genuine Student (GS) requirement (replaced GTE in March 2024), Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), and evidence of financial capacity (tuition + AUD $29,710/year living costs + travel). Bangladesh is classified as Evidence Level 3 from January 2026 — stricter evidentiary requirements apply. National Planning Level of 295,000 international student places for 2025–26. Typical processing: 4–5 weeks (50% of applications), up to 6 months (90%).

Work Rights & Post-Study Pathways

48 hours per fortnight during study semesters, unlimited during scheduled breaks. Post-study: Subclass 485 Temporary Graduate Visa offers 2–4 years of work rights depending on qualification level (Bachelor's: 2 years, Master's: 3 years, PhD: 4 years). STEM and selected degrees qualify for extended post-study work rights.

Tuition & Living Costs

Undergraduate: AUD $30,000–$55,000/year. Postgraduate: AUD $35,000–$60,000/year. VET: AUD $10,000–$22,000/year. Living costs: AUD $29,710/year (from October 2024). Total annual budget: AUD $45,000–$65,000 (BDT 35–48 lakh).

Intake & Application Timeline

Main intakes: February (Semester 1) and July (Semester 2). Some universities offer November (Summer) intake. Applications typically open 6–8 months before intake. We recommend applying 4–6 months before the intake date for visa processing.

Entry Requirements

• Bachelor's: HSC/A-Levels with minimum GPA 3.5–4.0 (varies by university), IELTS 6.0–6.5 overall (no band below 6.0), IELTS 6.0 minimum for visa from March 2024
• Master's: 4-year Bachelor's degree or 3-year + 1-year honours, GPA 2.5–3.0/4.0 minimum, IELTS 6.5–7.0 (no band below 6.0)
• PhD: Master's degree with research component, research proposal, IELTS 6.5–7.0
• VET/Diploma: HSC completion, IELTS 5.5–6.0
