Canada has become one of the top destinations for Bangladeshi students due to its high-quality education system, affordable tuition compared to the US and UK, and one of the most welcoming immigration policies in the world.

Canadian degrees and diplomas are globally recognised, with institutions like University of Toronto, UBC, and McGill consistently ranking among the world's best. Canada's focus on research and innovation provides excellent opportunities for students in STEM, business, and healthcare fields.

The Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) program allows students to gain up to 3 years of Canadian work experience after graduation, which is a direct pathway to Permanent Residency through the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) under Express Entry.

Visa Information

Study Permit requires acceptance letter from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI). PAL (Provincial Attestation Letter) or TAL required for most undergraduate/college applicants — Master's and PhD students at public DLIs are exempt from PAL/TAL from January 2026. SDS (Student Direct Stream) targets ~20 business days for eligible countries with GIC of CAD $20,635, IELTS 6.0+ each band, first-year tuition paid. 2026 cap: 309,670 new applications accepted (7% lower than 2025). PhD applicants at public DLIs get a 14-day processing target. Living costs: CAD $22,895/year (from September 2025).

Work Rights & Post-Study Pathways

24 hours/week off-campus during academic sessions, full-time during scheduled breaks. No work permit needed for on-campus work. Post-study: PGWP valid for up to 3 years depending on program length. From 2026: field-of-study rules apply for college/non-degree program PGWP eligibility. Work experience gained through PGWP qualifies for Canadian Experience Class (CEC) PR pathway.
