US universities offer unparalleled resources, state-of-the-art facilities, and extensive alumni networks. The Optional Practical Training (OPT) program allows students to gain hands-on work experience in their field of study, with STEM graduates eligible for a 24-month extension (total 36 months).

For Bangladeshi students, the US offers a diverse range of institutions from Ivy League research universities to affordable state universities and community colleges, providing options across every budget level.

Visa Information

F-1 Student Visa requires SEVIS I-20 from a Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP)-certified school, proof of sufficient funds for first-year costs, and evidence of strong ties to home country. The visa interview is a critical step โ€” applicants must demonstrate genuine intent to study and return home after program completion. SEVIS fee: $350. Visa application fee: $185 (subject to change).

Work Rights & Post-Study Pathways

On-campus work up to 20 hours/week during term, full-time during breaks. Off-campus work restricted in first year (requires severe economic hardship authorisation). Curricular Practical Training (CPT) available after 1 academic year. Post-study: Optional Practical Training (OPT) โ€” 12 months; STEM graduates eligible for 24-month extension (total 36 months). Must apply for OPT within 60 days of program completion.
